How to Build a Strong Argument
This tool helps you structure a persuasive argument. Fill in your topic and stance on the first tab, and the tool will generate a foundational outline. Use this outline as a starting point for your writing.
Key Components of Persuasion
- Thesis Statement: The main point or central argument of your entire piece. This is what you are trying to convince your audience to believe.
- Claim (Argument): A specific, debatable point that supports your thesis. A strong essay has multiple claims.
- Evidence: The facts, statistics, examples, expert opinions, or anecdotes you use to prove your claim. Your generated outline will suggest *types* of evidence to look for.
- Counterargument: An argument that someone with the opposing view might make. Acknowledging the other side makes your own argument stronger.
- Rebuttal: Your response to the counterargument, explaining why it is weak, flawed, or less significant than your own points.
