Eye Yoga & Relaxation Routine
A simple routine to reduce digital eye strain and soothe tired eyes.
This gentle exercise warms up your eyes and helps them relax deeply.
- Rub your palms together briskly to generate heat.
- Gently cup your warm palms over your closed eyes.
- Ensure no light gets in. Breathe deeply for 1-2 minutes.
- Feel the warmth and darkness soothe your eyes.
This helps improve your focusing ability and reduces strain from staring at one distance.
- Hold your thumb about 10 inches from your face.
- Focus on your thumb for 15 seconds.
- Shift your focus to an object 10-20 feet away for 15 seconds.
- Repeat this cycle 5 times.
A great way to stretch the eye muscles and increase circulation.
- Sit or stand with your head straight.
- Slowly look up, then circle your eyes clockwise to the right, down, left, and back up.
- Complete 3 full circles, then reverse direction for 3 circles.
- Keep your breathing slow and steady.
This movement enhances flexibility and coordination of the eye muscles.
- Imagine a large, sideways figure-eight about 10 feet in front of you.
- Without moving your head, slowly trace the shape with your eyes.
- Trace it one way for 30 seconds, then switch directions.
- Remember to blink normally throughout.
Tips for Healthy Eyes
- Follow the 20-20-20 Rule: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.
- Blink Often: Staring at screens reduces blink rate. Make a conscious effort to blink fully and frequently.
- Stay Hydrated: Drinking enough water helps prevent dry eyes.
- Practice Regularly: A few minutes of these exercises daily can make a significant difference.
