Eye Yoga & Relaxation Routine

Eye Yoga & Relaxation Routine

A simple routine to reduce digital eye strain and soothe tired eyes.

This gentle exercise warms up your eyes and helps them relax deeply.

  1. Rub your palms together briskly to generate heat.
  2. Gently cup your warm palms over your closed eyes.
  3. Ensure no light gets in. Breathe deeply for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Feel the warmth and darkness soothe your eyes.

This helps improve your focusing ability and reduces strain from staring at one distance.

  1. Hold your thumb about 10 inches from your face.
  2. Focus on your thumb for 15 seconds.
  3. Shift your focus to an object 10-20 feet away for 15 seconds.
  4. Repeat this cycle 5 times.

A great way to stretch the eye muscles and increase circulation.

  1. Sit or stand with your head straight.
  2. Slowly look up, then circle your eyes clockwise to the right, down, left, and back up.
  3. Complete 3 full circles, then reverse direction for 3 circles.
  4. Keep your breathing slow and steady.

This movement enhances flexibility and coordination of the eye muscles.

  1. Imagine a large, sideways figure-eight about 10 feet in front of you.
  2. Without moving your head, slowly trace the shape with your eyes.
  3. Trace it one way for 30 seconds, then switch directions.
  4. Remember to blink normally throughout.

Tips for Healthy Eyes

  • Follow the 20-20-20 Rule: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.
  • Blink Often: Staring at screens reduces blink rate. Make a conscious effort to blink fully and frequently.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drinking enough water helps prevent dry eyes.
  • Practice Regularly: A few minutes of these exercises daily can make a significant difference.
